What
Building the Future of Archival Education and Research represents an unprecedented and exciting collaboration among the leading archival education programs in the U.S. to train and support future archival faculty.
This project is funded by a four-year grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services - Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Program.
Why
Currently, archival science lags behind other Library Science fields in addressing the most current and central issues of information preservation and management. A new methodology is needed to reframe not only the canon of archival theory and practice, but also the pedagogy whereby it is is conveyed, in order to address the diversity challenges faced by the archival field.
Goal
Our goal is to stimulate the growth of a new generation of academics in archival education who are both versed in contemporary issues and knowledgeable of the work being conducted by colleagues.
