Archival
Education and Research Institute (AERI) 2012
AERI 2012 will be hosted at the University of California,
Los Angeles from July 9-13, 2012. This year's institute will bring together
incoming and continuing doctoral students, faculty and professionals
from across the
United States and worldwide. There will be a Digital
Curation pre-conference,
led by University of North Carolina Chapel Hill researchers, held at
UCLA on July 8, 2012. Then, from July 9 to 13, plenaries will generate discussion on Grand
Challenges in the Archival Field, Technology and Archives, AER
Doctoral Fellows research agendas,
Archival Literature Analysis, and lastly, a reflection on what AERI has
accomplished these past three years to guide our community into the
future. We will also feature workshops, paper and poster presentations by U.S. and international archival scholars.University of California, Los Angeles Monday July 9 to Friday July 13, 2012 Scholarship support was available to untenured ladder faculty and doctoral students whose major focus is Archival Studies and employed by or attending U.S. academic institutions. In addition, we launched the Emerging Archival Scholars Program (EASP) (2011-2015) to encourage minority students at the undergraduate and graduate levels to consider undertaking doctoral education in Archival Studies through a scholarship opportunity to attend AERI 2012. This year's AERI is funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services. This will be the fourth of the week-long Archival Education and Research Institutes (AERI) that were previously held in 2009, 2010 and 2011. Read the biographies of this year's Research Participants. The goals of AERI aim to advance the field of Archival Studies by: 1. Creating a dynamic community of researchers, teachers, and students to help mentor doctoral students and faculty in areas such as thesis writing, grant writing, publishing, and career development. 2. Advancing curriculum development in Archival Studies. 3. Furthering current research development through presentations, posters, and workshop activities. 4. Fostering interest in future collaborations both nationally and internationally. AERI will provide a dynamic venue for archival researchers and teachers to interact in an intensive, collegial collaborative environment. |
